Built A Table

Maybe some day I will have a proper camera, but in the meantime anyone reading this will have to put up with these crumby iPhone photos. In this particular photo you will see the table I built with the help of Ryan and my dad. Dad was in charge of the legs while Ryan and I made the top. For the finish I wanted to keep it food safe so I used a mixture of coffee and tea for the stain and a beeswax/olive oil mixture to seal it. It is quite tall and I still need to figure out what to do for seating. Booster seats for all!

Let's Just Slow It Down, Summer

After spending the night at the lake, Ryan and I came back to the city and spent the rest of the long weekend with my girl Mary and her dog Frank. 

Also pictured is a boozy chocolate cake I made for my friend Dane's 30th birthday. Almost ten years ago I met those two and I have to say they are some of the best people I have ever met and deserve cakes year round!

Obligatory Wedding Outfit Wedding Season 2014

Ryan's cousin got hitched a few weeks ago and I decided to try my hand at the most complex wedding outfit I have made to date. Not only did I create wearable shorts, crop top, and lace dress, but this was the first outfit finished the night before the actual wedding. Big deal for this master procrastinator!

Check out this kid emerging from under a chair he used as a cover to cross the dance floor. Weddings are all sorts of strange. 

If you look real close you can also spot the first signs of what proved to be a very shirtless wedding dance.

I Built A Couch

Ryan (who was a huge help) and I turned that pile of wood into seating. I am so pleased with how it turned out and am looking forward to sharing more house projects. Continuing in the thankful spirit of last weekend, having this space makes me very grateful. So much room for dance parties and rolling around on the couchbed.

I had the house all to myself for a couple hours yesterday and made myself a gorgeous cup of tangy dark chocolate, tobacco-like goodness. Happy Tuesday.

Well Thank You

These are the only photos I have from hosting Thanksgiving with my family this year. I am a sucker for holidays and wish I could cram all my loved one into my house on a weekly basis.
